Common pipe issues you don’t want to ignore

Plumbing issues are just one of those things that people love to put off. If it’s not a flood – you can deal with it tomorrow, right?

Well, that’s not always the case. If you tackle an issue early, you could save time, money and keep a lot of your stuff from potentially getting destroyed. Here are some issues that are really flags for a bigger problem on the horizon.

Dripping Faucets

Yes, that pesky drip might seem like it’s more of a pain to your ears, but it can eventually lead to some extensive damage down the road. Water waste is only the beginning. A drip can eventually lead to water damage. Which is something you definitely don’t want.

Believe it or not, increased moisture means there’s an increased chance for mold and mildew, which eventually becomes a far more serious (and costly) issue. Whether you have to reduce the humidity, insulate your pipes, or find a possible leak, you’ll be happy you discovered the root of the problem sooner rather than later.

Running Toilet

If you see your water bill spiking, a running toilet could be to blame. Of course, this is one of those ones you just want to ignore, but waiting could literally cost you. Instead of flushing away your money go ahead and fix that faulty flapper or a broken chain.

The Clogged Toilet

Since we’re stuck on toilets – let’s stay here for a bit. A clogged toilet is a problem everyone has experienced. As annoying as this problem is, it’s also pretty easy to spot easy to fix with a toilet plunger or a drain snake. If plunging and snaking don’t work, however, it may be necessary to call in a little expert help.

Low Water Pressure

If you notice that the water pressure in your home has dropped significantly, you shouldn’t ignore this. It could be a plumbing cry for help. A temporary drop in pressure might be related to some hiccup in the municipal water supply, but a prolonged pressure drop could indicate a major leak or burst pipe in your home.
